~ Sweet Surprise ~

Yesterday we received a wonderful surprise. A Holt staff member recently visited the Philippines and took pictures and short digital camera videos of Levi. In the video his caretaker is calling him by Levi Jax...too cute! Receiving this was a great surprise and gift as Wes (his 30th) and I celebrate our birthdays today and tomorrow. Here are some of the pictures.

What a sweet surprise indeed! What a lovely birthday present for both of you. He's adorable! You must be so eager and excited to finally hold him in your arms! The orphanage looks great...clean, well-kept! I'm happy and encouraged to see that.
I noticed they put him to sleep with a bottle though...my dentist explained that this is one of the main reasons we see so many cavities and tooth decay in the older adopted children from the Philippines...it's from years of falling asleep with a bottle of milk or juice at night. But then, he's only a year old...you still have plenty of time to work on changing that habit. One thing at a time!
Happy birthday to both you and your husband!

Happy birthday!!! That is such a fun little birthday surprise. Those are great pictures.

About the bottles, that is one thing that we found in the Philippines. They give bottles to kids for WAY longer than we would in the States. I met a mom who still gave her 5-year old son a bottle because it was the only way she could get him to drink milk.

I love that they are already calling him by his name, and that you even got to see video. AWESOME!!!

have a great birthday! what a nice present. that nursery looks very familiar ;-) they are just wonderful there. i think it's easier in the nursery situation for them to keep the kids on the same schedule. so, my daughter was still on an infant's feeding schedule (right down to bottle feedings at midnight and middle of the night) when we met her. they did try to wash the milk down with water after, but I'm sure that's not always too successful. weaning her off was no problem though.
